24 years since the first war on terror prisoners were taken to Guantanamo illegally. An ongoing stain on the U.S. See Andy Worthington’s website for updates on what’s happening at Guantanamo, including the holding of deported immigrants there, and on the worldwide vigils.
TAX DAY – WEDNESDAY, APRIL 15, 12 – 1 at the IRS, 290 Broadway @Duane, for the annual vigil with music and leafleting the WRL pie chart. Taxpayers Against Genocide (TAG) is co-sponsoring, among others.
Also, vigil at Washington Sq Park at 4 pm on tax day, TAG and NYC WRL co-sponsoring.
Nuclear weapons Nonproliferation Treaty conference @ UN, April 27-May 22. NYC WRL (Ruth & John have been on meetings) is working with the coalition initiated by Manhattan for a Nuclear-Free World, with NY Peace Action, NYS Pax Christi, Raging Grannies, et al. Many Japanese coming to NYC. Plans by this group:
Sunday, April 26, 2026 – Meet at NYPL, 10:30 – 11:15. Walk to Isaiah Wall and on to Dag Hammerskjold Plaza, ending at Noon. Speakers, music at both ends incl. Japanese delegation & hibakusha. Estimated that there may be about 200 people. Share the flyer please!

On the 23rd anniversary of the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, we held a vigil against all wars, including the horrific U.S. and Israeli war on Iran begun on February 28th.
