Peace Gathering to Commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Eighty-one years have passed since the U.S. atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is estimated that the bombs killed 210,000 people by the end of 1945 and, over the years, have ruined the health of many of the survivors. To honor the memory of those who lost their lives to the atomic bombings we will join our voices to express our sincere regrets and apologies for our nations’ atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

View the exhibit at Temperance Plaza, Noon – 5 pm

At 1:00 PM – Pax Christi Metro New York invites you to join in Prayer and Public Witness on the occasion of the 81st Anniversary of the Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
• Prayer for those who have suffered the effects of nuclear weapons development and use
• The Ringing of a Gong 81 times for the 81 years since the tragic dawning of the nuclear age
• Leafletting/Procession around the park to inform and invite action to abolish nuclear weapons
